2010 Heart of Art Studio and Gallery Tour October 16-17
The 10th annual Heart of Art, self-guided tour, takes place the third weekend of October, on the 16th and 17th, from 11 am to 5 p.m. Heart of Art is a free tour to celebrate artists, studios and galleries of LaPorte County.
This unique event showcases the talent and charm that LaPorte County has as a cultural destination. With more than 30 artists in ten (10) studios and three (3) galleries, it is a great event for discerning art collectors to discover artistic talent along the beautiful southern shore of Lake Michigan. Many artists will be demonstrating their process throughout the day. Whether you are an art connoisseur or you simply enjoy watching artists at work, this is a great way to spend a beautiful fall day.
The tour begins at the LaPorte County Convention and Visitors Bureau located at 4073 S Franklin St., Michigan City, at the Marquette Mall. Visitors may pick up a free map with locations and driving directions for each art destination. Maps are also available on line at http://www.heart-of-art.com
All sites on the tour are within LaPorte County. Participating studios include Web Glass, Staara, Neil Kienitz, Paul Jaselskis, Dee Schult, Carole Stodder, Tom Brand, and Doug Schmidt. Participating galleries include Southern Shore Art Association Gallery, Lubeznik Center for the Arts, and Lakeside Gallery West. All three galleries are located in Michigan City. Four (4) guest artists from outside LaPorte County will be featured: Susan M. Willis, Anne Clary, Esther Guncheon, and Chris Harnung.
